Compact Plate Setup Guide

Thank you for choosing Subsea Sports!

Setup of your new Compact Plate is simple as very similar to traditional backplates.

Due to varying styles of harnesses on the market today, we cannot account for all types.  The varying factor is the grommet on these harnesses.  MOST are just under .25" thick which is very close to the air cell grommet dimensions which will create a level mounting surface for your STA (Single Tank Adapter).  If yours matches your air cell, you will not need the supplied Ultra Thin Book Screw as the installation of the STA will 'pinch' it and keep it from moving.  If yours is binding or preventing installation of the STA, you can reduce the thickness of the harness grommet with a vise or gentle tamping with a hammer on a hard surface (prior to installation of course).

We do recommend using belt slides on the back side of the waist slots on the plate to mitigate harness movement.  This will maintain comfort and prevent harness wear.

If you purchased our Compact Bolt Kit; install the flat side of the T carriage bolt on the side that will face your back.  Use the provided fender and lock washer and nut on the STA side.  Be sure to tighten with a fair amount of force using a 9/16" wrench or socket.

If you are modifying your own bolts, you will need 3/8" carriage bolts to fit the plate properly.  Cut your bolts down to 2cm (measured from inside the bolt flange to the end of the bolt).  A grinder will help in reducing the rounded surface of your bolts.
